7 Encouraging Scriptures for the overwhelmed mom

It’s 7pm and I feel so tired.

The kids and hubby had an early night today, I am sitting on the couch feeling so overwhelmed about what still needs to be. I look over the kitchen sink, and I see a pile of dishes I was yet to do before warming up food for the family. Our laundry basket with clean clothes that I needed to fold and put away and get some of the clothes ready for ironing the next day. The kid’s toys are all over the floor, I made them sleep early before clean-up time.

I noticed that I d idn’t manage to tick off most of the items on my to-do list today. All that I still need to do overwhelms me, so I fell on my knees, covering my mouth with the pillow, I let out a scream, and with tears in my eyes, I said a to God, almost whispering, “I can’t do this, Please help me.”

Motherhood is hard, but it’s the highest calling ever given to me. It has taught me things I didn’t know I needed to know.

While I was still in the moment, God whispered promises from His Word back to me that I would like to share with a fellow weary mom who may be feeling overwhelmed by her blessings. Here are 7 encouraging scriptures for the overwhelmed mom.

1. He said to “I will help you live freely and lightly”

Matthew 11:28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” – The Message

2. I am watching over you

“When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who watch over my way. In the path where I walk people have hidden a snare for me.” – NIV

“When my spirit was overwhelmed and weak within me [wrapped in darkness], You knew my path.” – Amplified Version

3. Keep Going

“Do not let your heart be troubled (afraid, cowardly). Believe [confidently] in God and trust in Him, [have faith, hold on to it, rely on it, keep going and] believe also in Me.

4. I care for you

1 Peter 5:7 “casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].” AMP

5. I hear your cry for help

James 5:16(b) “The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].” AMP

6. Isaiah 41:10 “Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you.  I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.” – AMP

7. Partner with God  and be empowered

Ephesians 6:10 “In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him] and in the power of His [boundless] might.” – AMP

Hey overwhelmed mom, you are not alone God is watching over you, He hears you when you cry to Him, cares for you, He will help you, He is with you so keep going. Claim the promises from His word and remember, you are doing something that is of the highest callings, you are raising the child that God has blessed you with. You’re doing a great job.
