1 Explore uShaka Marine World

One of Durban’s top attractions that my kids’ favorite marine-themed park – uShaka Marine World. It’s a must-visit park that combines fun, entertainment, and education. Kids can enjoy thrilling water slides at Wet ‘n Wild, learn about marine life at the aquarium, and even interact with dolphins and seals in exciting shows.

2 Visit Le Petit Playhouse

If Le Petit Playhouse would offer residency, my kids would want to move to Le Petit Playhouse. It is an enchanting play space designed to ignite the imagination and create lasting memories for children. Le Petit Playhouse has two branches, one in Hillcrest and another one in Durban North. They are both indoor wonderland that offers a safe and stimulating environment where kids can explore, play, and learn. For the holidays, they have fun themes lined up:

To visit Le Petit Playhouse over the holiday bookings are required for every day, with 2-hour play sessions at 9 am, 11:30 am, and 2 pm.

3 Sweet Escape for Family Fun at Sugar Rush Park

Sugar Rush Park, nestled in the heart of Durban, is a vibrant and delightful destination that offers a wide array of family-friendly activities and attractions. From thrilling outdoor adventures to leisurely picnics and delicious treats, Sugar Rush Park has something for everyone. Kids can explore adrenaline-pumping activities such as ziplining, mountain biking, and the exhilarating Sugar Rush Speedway go-kart track, scenic mountain biking trails suitable for riders of all levels, Miniature Train Rides, and much more.

4 Gemstone Adventure at Scratch Patch Ballito

Located in the scenic coastal town of Ballito, on the beautiful grounds of Sugar Rush Park. Scratch Patch Ballito allows visitors to dig through piles of polished gemstones, creating a fun-filled adventure for gem enthusiasts of all ages. This is a must-visit destination for families seeking a gemstone-filled adventure.

5 Visit an Indoor Trampoline Park

We have 3 of our favorites that are worth visiting and fun for the whole family. Most of them require No pre-booking.

5.1 The first one is Jump Park located in Sugar Rush Park, Ballito.

53. Bounce Trampoline Park in Cornubia Mall

Bounce trampoline park is said to be South Africa’s biggest trampoline, according to our family, this is among the best things to do in Durban. School holiday trading hours: Mon–Thurs: 9 am – 6 pm, Fri: 9 am – 6 pm, Sat: 9 am – 6 pm, and Sun: 9 am – 6 pm. For more information click here.

6 Hamleys Train Ride

Tired of walking around the mall, then take a break and go for a Hamley’s train ride, R25 gets you a ride across the mall. Train rides are available, Mon-Sat 11:00 am -6:00 pm, Sun & public holidays – 11:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Join the Hamley Club and get 1 free train ride, popcorn, and a slushie every month.

7 Discover the Fascinating World of Reptiles and Wildlife at Crocworld

Crocworld, situated on the beautiful KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, is a renowned conservation center and sanctuary that offers visitors a captivating experience with reptiles and wildlife. With its diverse range of crocodiles, snakes, birds, and other fascinating creatures, Crocworld provides an educational and thrilling adventure for the entire family.

Crocworld offers fun daily activities from Crocodile feeds on Tuesdays – Sundays, 11:00 am – 3:00 pm, to seeing a wide variety of bird species, letting kids meet the farm family in the Animal Farm, Snake demonstration and so much more.

8 Messy Kids 4 Days Holiday Fun at Glenwood Prep Cafe

9 Plan a Picnic at Mitchell Park Zoo

Mitchell Park Zoo is a small yet charming zoo located in the heart of Durban. Kids can marvel at various animal species, including wallabies, monkeys, birds, and reptiles. The park also offers picnic spots, a playground, and a café for a delightful day out.

10 Enjoy a day at the Beach

Durban is renowned for its stunning beaches, and North Beach is our family’s favorite. With golden sand, warm waters, and lifeguards on duty, it provides a safe and enjoyable environment for kids to swim, build sandcastles, and soak up the sun.

11 Explore Mini Town Durban

Our kids want to visit this place so often, its a great place to do a holiday photo shoot or a place where kids can explore miniature models of Durban’s landmarks.

12 Take a Trip on an old-fashioned Steam Train with Umgeni Steam Railway

This is an educational kid-friendly activity, that your children will love and get to see and learn to appreciate another part of our beautiful country, the Valley of 1000 Hills. You can also enjoy a picnic in Inchanga, explore the food stalls and craft market, and let your kids enjoy the pony rides and the model railway display. 13 Umgeni River Bird Park Holiday Programme

Bring your kids for a fun-filled outdoor experience at the Umgeni River Bird Park where they will enjoy guided tours, a bird show, quizzes, sports, and much more.
